We had taken a 7 night **Mediterranean cruise** on the **Costa Serena** in October’08 and I must say that it was one of my **BEST **vacations.

**The Ship** was massive and very impressive. Very good facilities. Our room (with balcony) was very comfortable. It was big enough for a double bed and an extra bed for my 4yr old and not one of those really small matchboxy rooms.

**The Staff** was always smiling and ready to help.. right from the cabin stewards to the security guys.A lot of Indian Staff majority of them handling the kitchen and the security. The people in charge of Entertainment were fun loving and cool and even a regular thing like a Bingo evening was made fun.

**In house entertainment** ranged from Dancing, Yoga, Pilates, Talks on weight Control, Cooking... in short something for everyone. The Pool was a huge and they also had an amazing spa (though a tad too expensive for Indians).

They even had a real **McLaren F1 Car** and you could go for a **Virtual Drive**.**The crowd **was a mixed crowd with Senior citizens. honeymooners and families with kids. There were all age groups as well as people from all over the world. We met Germans, Americans and Europeans, though we were the ONLY Indians.

**The Food** was also not a problem since we are non-vegetarians, though I feel it could be a problem for vegetarians. I was a little apprehensive since my 4yr old is a very fussy eater; but thru the cruise he didnt have any problems with food as the kitchen staff would arrange something for him.

**The excursions** were also very well organised. They had arrangements for good coaches and guides. They also had a variety of excursions to choose from and they tried to cover as much as possible.

**The Kids Club**, though could do with a lot of improvement, especially for 3-6yr olds. The girls in charge were good but Language was a major issue as they did not understand English very well. The playthings were also very limited and not enough to occupy the kids for a longer time. The older kids had a Video Game arcade to occupy them. All in all a very good experience and I would highly recommend it.

Costa have been good.Economic and value for money.I went on a 4 night Mumbai Cochin Ship and then again 5 N starting Barcelona .It was awesome experience.

Tips

1. Rates given by Antilog Vacations - The authorised seller was really good both times.Rates were 20% cheap anda airfare, visa also taken care of.Middle men cuts through the commissions and charges heavily and hence book from authorised folks

2. Cruising is smooth and no frills. Some things are on the house

3. Never go for DC cabins.Always balcony

4. Direct booking from costa is expensive

5. Port visas is no hassle but a long line, so u have to wait

6. Land excursions are a bit pricey as Costa makes money there

7.Always carry your own alcohol and snacks for kids

8. Cruise should be last thing in your itinerary as it helps you to unwind

9.Always carry medicines like paracetamol, montair LC for sea sickness and flu.Docs r expensive on cruise board

10. Travel light

Good day

All in all 4.5/5
