Enjoy the Frights , Forget the Logic Behind It

SO here comes another horror movie based on a short-story by Stephen King.

This time around there is a cynical ghost stories writer ( John Cusack) who has written series of books based on " Top 10 Haunted"-- Hotels, Graveyards, Villas , etc.

He comes across this postcard of a certain Hotel Dolphin in New York with a room 1408. He inquires about this hotel and this room and decides to stay in this room overnight to see for himself what is so special in that room . The Hotel Manager (Samuel L Jackson) warns him repeatedly about not staying in that room.

What Follows are series of events what takes place after that in Room 1408.So he reaches the point of no return and slowly but surely things start pooping up inside the room and starts to play tricks on his mind. As the saying goes , it’s not about reaching the destination , it’s the journey that matters. Director Mikael Håfström sure gives some frights along the way , sudden unexpected events do keep you glued to the (computer) screen.

The Director has also loaded the protagonist with a dark and guilty past which adds to the character development and also to the story.

The movie scores mainly on the basis of brilliant performance by Cusack , I liked his acting and he succeeds in playing the part of the scared but still trying-to-fight writer. This movie should not be viewed with the aim to "figure" this movie out so as to say.

This ain’t contrived just for the sake of it. Stephen king writes stories with the aim to shock your or scare you and it’s not like LOST from which you can expect a good logical explanation behind everything that’s happening.

SO overall a good ’horror’ movie which provides some ghost amusement park kinda thrills and is definitely better and watchable than the rest of the current movies in genre with the likes of grudge  2, hills have eyes etc.
