3 Idiots—All is very-very well!

Finally the wait is over and the frenzy returns and that too with a big bang. It is a classic example of movie making at its vintage best.

Congratulations to Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra & the entire team of 3 idiots as it is going to be no less than a blockbuster (at least that’s what I feel). And of course Aamir has done it again by delighting viewers with an absolute gem. Apparently, one would be able to figure out why Raju had Aamir in mind while he was still conceptualizing the movie. Big thanks to Mr. Chetan Bhagat for his book (Five Point Someone) becoming the base for a movie that’s going to have an everlasting appeal.

I had read article by Mr. Bhagat on TOI’s edit page a few days back that emphasized the importance of the reforms in the current education system of our country. It was great to see him carrying forward his cause which he initiated with his first fictional work (that went on to become a bestseller). The fact that he has become a full time writer and aims to help the society in whatever ways he can is actually a culmination of the dream that he had in his college days.

He is now doing what he enjoys the most and this is what the movie puts across as well—in a manner which is quite interesting and thought provoking at the same time. Although the movie has many satirical moments pertaining to the higher education system, it essentially is a comedy that makes you laugh big time. It does have its share of serious moments too which is an inseparable part; however, you come out of the theatre happy, jubilant and satisfied. Such is the impact that discussions would carry on for the weeks to come with a lot of people watching it a few times more. Oh yeah, the film has a great repeat value.

Coming back to the movie—it starts with the present where two friends (Played by Madhvan & Sharman) get some clue about the whereabouts of their dearest mate (Aamir Khan). The search begins and the flashbacks happen. The way they have balanced the presentation is great as you would never deviate a little. The pace, hilarious scenes and sudden twists keep you glued to the screen throughout. There is never a dull moment. Cinematography is brilliant which is quite evident from the way they have shot the locations & some beautiful & hilarious scenes.

As far as acting is concerned, Aamir Khan has done an exceptional stuff. It appears as if he is reaching the level of self actualization wherein he exactly knows what he’s doing. The character fits him like “ T” and definitely conform to his own in many ways. What to say about the looks; the more I mention the lesser it would be. He is simply a genius. This young, comic, handsome, intelligent & dashing avatar is an instant hit. Kareena has done justice to the role and her looks in the movie will surprise you pleasantly. Madhavan & Sharman are superb and provide the balance. Chatur’s Character played by Omi needs a special mention. Mona Singh does a good cameo. Boman Irani as professor “Viru Sahastrabuddhe” has done a brilliant job as usual. I am sure he would have worked really hard on the way he speaks in the movie.

The film’s music will actually take you by surprise if you have not followed it in detail yet. Most of the songs being situational come full of life in the movie and one can’t stop but admire them even more. The songs timings are perfect and you actually enjoy them. Shantanu Moitra’s delivers a music score which is tailor made for the movie. He is very ably supported by Sonu Niigaam, Shaan, Shreya, Suraj Jagan and other artists and technical team. Swanand Kirkire does well with the https://lyrics. My favourite remains “all is well” with excellent vocals by Sonu Niigaam. His voice texture in the song matches the mood of the song perfectly. Also, it would really be worthwhile to carefully listen to "Jaane Nahin Denge tujhe" and feel the emotions.

Overall, the movie is a grand celebration of life in true sense. It’s refreshing and definitely a treat to watch. I am sure it will take the box office by storm. Just go and watch those 3 idiots turning into 3 ideals and enjoy. All is very-very well.
