This is one of the awesome movies I have ever watched. Even though the essence of the plot is chetan bhagats five point someone, appropriate changes have been made to suit the audience.the movie starts with a hope of reunion of three friends(fiends!). the attachment between them is such that one abandons the flight which he had already boarded and the other starts from home without even wearing a pant.
But both are utterly disappointed to find not their dearest friend rancho, but one of their selfish but funny batch mates chatur(nerd), who tells them where rancho is. But their search for him only reveals an impostor, who tells them a mind boggling story, revealing that their friend rancho was a genius. The story then continues with a hunt for rancho, and the their college days are shown as a memory of the two friends.
The college days are fascinating ones. The flaws in the modern education system and the mounting pressure which the students have to withstand in professional colleges are brought out well.These scenes are infused with comedy and are worth watching. The principal of the college, popularly known as" virus" adds to the comedy.One should not miss the replacement of "chamatkar" with "balatkar" by rancho in chatur s speech which was to be delivered by him on the college day.
The portrayal of applications of science in real life situations, such as in the delivery of a baby, is really magnificent.These reveal that practical science goes beyond classrooms and is to be taught in a different way.A little bit of romance also adds to the beauty of the film.The ending is a happy one with the true identity of rancho being revealed as a scientist and the reunion of the three friends and 2 lovers.(naakh beeche me nahi aathi!)
In a nutshell it is a movie worth watching. and a must watch for engineering students.
