Sony Cybershot P93: My Experience
I have been using my Sony Cybershot P93 for more than 6 months now. And I am very much satisfied by its performance. Here are my observations:
Very handy. Ergonomics are perfect for a point and shoot camera.
Responsive with an amazingly quick start-up time.
The battery life is amazing. I never have to really worry about running out of battery charge. I use the Stamina batteries that came with the camera and as recommended by Sony. However the best thing about these batteries is that these are AA sized so in the event of an emergency one can go for any good off-the-shelf AA alkalines. I have taken more than 400 pictures per charge.
All the menu controls and camera settings are very intuitive. There is hardly any learning curve. Hold the camera and start shooting. It is as simple as that.
Memory Stick Pro. Yes this is one more reason I went on to buy this camera. Because with Memory Stick Pro one can record real-time high quality video thanks to the high speed data transfer and storage capability. Soon after buying the camera I also bought a 1GB memory stick. Have recorded long movies at the highest resolution mode with real ease. The microphone is sensitive enough and records sound well. However I wont say that this camera is a replacement of a camcorder. As there are a few limitations. For example, once movie recording starts, you cant use zoom function. Despite this fact, I have recorded many movies and am very pleased with it.
Now the most important bit. The picture quality. I have just one word for it. Brilliant. I always get sharp pictures with true colours. Indoor shots have always been very good as well. But remember the built-in flash with this camera has its limitations as with any other camera. Just bear that thing in mind when taking indoor photos. For those who want, can easily get an add-on flash from Sony specifically designed for this camera. I have not tried that and cant say how good it is. BTW, my picture on the left was taken by this camera. You can see how crisp it is despite the fact that I have reduced the original 5.1 mega-pixel photo to this size for mouthshut.com upload as they dont allow larger photos to be uploaded.
To sum it up, I find this 5.1 mega-pixel camera to be great in all respects.
