To whom so ever it may concern.


Sir/Madam,


I have used Manhattan card for a long time. I must say though your service was not very impressive, but I still continued with it. Problems started in October when I did not receive my statement in email from bank. Due to this reason I did not pay for that months purchase.


Next month I received my statement along with late charge fee and interest charges. I tried calling stanchart but I could not get through so I waited for couple of days, subsequently I received call from collection department requesting to pay. I told them about the instance and asked them to please waver those charges. I was told that they can not do so but that I would have to call customer service for that to be done. And again I told them that due to some reason I cannot get through so can they be wise enough to ask customer service  to call me so as to clear my charges and that I can pay my pending purchase amount . But unfortunately I was told that this cannot be the case. Only I can call them but they will not. In short Irony was that I will be called only for a promo offer but not when there is amount pending.


This continued for a month or two I didn’t make payment expecting I will get a call from customer service and my extra charges will be wavered but as it happened I was again called by collection team asking me to pay up, again I told them  that I can still see late charges and interest in my statement , to this I was told that if I pay remaining amount my charges will be removed. But suspecting foul play I paid only Rs.2000  and as it happened I received interest and late fees charges in my next statement intact . As it happened I paid being fed up of incessant calls and customer care apathy paid Rs 9634 at end of march total amount I had made purchase that being done last in December. After a 2 month lull in no calls I again started receiving calls from standard chart . Asking to pay up remaining amount which to this date had added to a sum of about Rs. 6500 . Which I refused to pay . Now as the situation is that everyday I get call from recovery department asking me to pay up.


And today I was asked to give my statement in written on a government stamp paper stating that I will not pay remaining amount .


To this I have denied and have told them that they can continue any legal recourse they deem fit , I feel this is very sad situation  we have come to and has compelled me to write this mail.


After searching web for solution to this problem I tried searching   string "manhattan card india" on Google to my astonishment first two links are related to customer complaint against stan chart credit card sercvices. Well thats being besides the point I found this mail from one of the compalint forum.


I was hoping that this mail may help in resolving my problem.
