The story generally about a little robot boy’s struggle for becoming a human being.In the distant future natural resources become very limited and the space is tried to get filled with high technology.This technology provides people even mechanic creatures useful in many parts of daily life.
David(Haley Joel Osment) is a robot boy created for being a loving child of a family whose children deadly ill.The little boy creates a strong and profound relation with the mother of the family, Monica(Frances O’Connor).
One day surprisingly the ill child of the family recovers and comes back to his parents.After a few unfortunate incident the boy becomes discarded and faces the cruel world alone.Now his chase for the blue fairy has started which he believes that will make him become a real human being and will make his mom accept him.The rest of the film is built on this chase...
At first sight this film looks like a classical science fiction movie.Actually when considering the special effects and the logical structure of the events involved, the film is a real masterpiece and a magnificient ’’visual banquet’’...However you will be able to find much more than effects that is, the wonderful sentiments added that you cant see in such science fiction movies.The most attractive theme is ’’the speciality and the sanctity of the mother and child relation’’.Almost all of the film has been built on this theme and it has been emphasized throughout the movie.Another one which has been highlighted is the importance and superiority of being a human being among all of the mechanical creatures.This has been implied in David’s desperate crusade for becoming a human being...
You will be able to pick many striking scenes throughtout the movie;the action ones supported with special effects and the sentimental ones.For instance you will be able to see ManHattan with all the skyscrapers covered by the sea with only the top of them remaining and only the hand of the famous statue of freedom over the surface of the water.On the other side you will be able to see David’s sentimental meeting with the blue fairy which he believes that will make him become a real human.Besides the meeting of David and his mother with only 2 of them after 2 thousand years(with the help of the technology of aliens from outer world) will force your eyes to cry.The film ends after this beautiful scene in a sad way with a striking narration made by Ben Kingsley...
If you love science fiction films and are ready for being sad then I highly recommend this one.Don’t worry Spielberg will prove himself well..:))...
