So Maadhuri is back to her "home" and Mr.Anil Mehta decided to make a film out of it.Let’s get started with the story part of it : Maadhuri presently liviing in New York gets a call from india which is made by her guruji(darshan zariwala in his over the top role) from his deathbed.So she decides to fly back to ’shamlii’ (i am not quite sure if such a place exists in india) along with her daughter while she tells her backstory.
Moving on , she finds out that the "holy" place callled Ajanta where she learnt dancing is going to be run down and a mall is to be constructed in it’s place , SO she makes a deal with current MP/Raja of the town(AKhanna in a special appearance which is more of a extended appearance).The deal being she presents a musical show starring the "talented" people of shamli.
By this time movie is already halfway through, now all that most of the cliches were over, me and my friends thought now we would have some originality , but alas we were disappointed as usual by yashraj , the cliches still continued till the very end.
The movie was made watchable and tolerable by it’s strong supporting cast , spearheaded by konkana sen sharma in another brililant role , playing a total tomboyish foul mouthed girl playing ’laila’ in the musical , with kunal kapoor playing his ’majnu’.He also performed quite well given the restrictions script has put on the characters. A special mention to ranvir-vinay , these two once again are superb in their respective role , this time vinay out doing ranvir but solely due to his role.
The script writing in the movie in inept and so is the direction.Although I would like to say that the climax of the movie which features a Indian musical was quite well made but gets a bit boring towards the end.
Now coming to the star of the movie so as to say , the sole reason for which the movie was made, Maadhuri herself.I must say she is looking very beautiful and looks very nice in the costumes( simple is the keyoword).She acts also very well , infact I never liked maadhuri before , I mean I found her ok-ok always , but she is very good in the movie but as I said before the movie as a whole offers nothing new at all and is only to be watched if you are a maadhuri fan.
