My name is MBU. This mail is a complaint about the action of Accenture HR with regard to my job interview. Id attended the Accenture job interview for non-technical voice openings at Times Jobs Fair(St. Josephs Boys High School, Museum Road, Bangalore) on 29th June, 2008. I am a graduate in BA Sociology from University of Calicut, Kerala and was therefore eligible to apply for the interview. I aced through all the rounds of interview including the final Operations rounds conducted by Accenture personnel Jaya*(all names changed to protect privacy) & Annu over the telephone.
Finally Accenture HR personnel Karthika & Dinesh who were present at the Fair told me that Ive been "selected" and asked for my documents photocopies for verification. Karthika said that my 1st year BA sociology marklist was missing. I informed her that Ive all the required marklists given to me by the university and even showed the original copies to her.
My degree certificate(received in 2002) shows Registration Nos. 930728(year of examination April 2000), 4839(April 2002), 025441(April 2002) and 25461(September 2002). I presented all the four marklists reflecting the above registration nos. and years of examination. As they rightly observed, I did not have a marklist stating "First year BA". The four marklists that I have states 2nd year BA, 2nd year BA, final year BA and final year BA. Its possible that the university might not have printed the wordings "first year marklist" for one of my four marklists due to negligence. I enrolled for my BA program in 1998 but as per my marklists I wrote my first exam in 2000. So its also possible that I did not write any exam in 1999. I really cant remember as it was 10 years ago. Anyway, can I have a marklist more than whats required of me by the University?! As my marklists ascertain, I have passed all my subjects and therefore rightfully earned the Degree certificate awarded to me by the University. But Karthika & Dinesh were not convinced and adviced me to meet another HR Sudheesh with my original documents at Accenture Services Pvt. Ltd, RMZ Futura-II, 148/1 – Bannerghatta Main Road, Bangalore. I met Sudheesh at Accenture office the next day(30th June 2008) and the response was the same. He just kept repeating "Accenture follows stringent verification process" despite my presentation of all original documents and the fact that Ive passed all my subjects. He said "I cant accept these certificates" and cancelled my job offer. He advised me to contact the university and get an explanation letter. University of Calicut is not efficient as it may be in Bangalore. A reply to my query will take atleast a minimum of a months time. Ive not been working for the past two months and cannot afford to wait another month before I can get a positive reply either from the university or from Accenture. Why am I being questioned about something like "First year BA" when my skills, qualification and experience have already been proved successfully during the interview? Why lose a potential candidate who can contribute sincerely to the company on the grounds of such unnecessary technical rule?
I must inform you that Accenture HR had selected me earlier too, on January 24, 2007. During the time, Id gone for a similar job fair at another place in Bangalore and passed the Accenture interview. I was given a 4-page original offer letter by HR executive Navya AFTER verification of all my ORIGINAL DEGREE DOCUMENTS. The offer was as a Sr. CSA for CSS ISS project(Level G: Sublevel: 3). Didnt Accenture have a "stringent verification process" during that time too? Let me also inform that Ive received offer letters from Convergys, Mphasis, ICICI Onesource(now Firstsource), Infosys BPO(where I worked for two years), IBM, Aditya Birla Minacs(earlier Transworks), Unisys and HSBC....AFTER verification of all ORIGINAL DEGREE DOCUMENTS. Dont they too have stringent checks in place?
Accenture believes in “High Performance. Delivered.” How about some fairness?
I hope you will take a positive and early action with regard to my complaint.
Thank you.
Sincerely
MBU
