I purchased Acer Laptop in Feb 2007, this laptop configuration was good and was cheaper in this category,
For almost a year I did not faced any issues with this laptop , although the Speakers volume is extremely low rest was good,
the problem started when the warranty got over, one fine day my laptop wont boot up I checked everything it was still not working I checked the website and tried all the troubleshooting mentioned still no luck as the warranty was over I thought of trying myself.
so I upgraded the boot software without any luck
i removed the HDD, RAM etc and tried still it was the same.
then I tried to put the RAM one by one .( 2 slots per RAM)
after I inserted my first RAM it started to boot up .--problem Fixed!!!
but when I put other RAM the screen is blank. I tried the vice versa slot and RAM still it does not works with both RAMs. -- DAMMIT I have work with only ONE RAM!! 256 MB now.
After some time the DVD writer stopped detecting its really pain to find these faults coming up just when the warranty got over!
i tried everything but it dint work I came to know that nearly 40% acer users have the same problem with the DVD writer.
The battery backup is now only for 2 mins now.
The WIfi is also dead now.
Then I started to use this laptop continuously for 3 year till now.. but occasionally the HDD crashes and I have to reinstall the Windows XP again.
so the issues so far I faced with this are
- RAM
suggestion,
- make 2 partition at least
Drive C for storing the OS and D for programs, docs etc.
Always use an USB HDD to backup files from the laptop.
Always ensure it is on flat surface,
never put it on any electrical devices, like TV, DVD players , Refrigerator ETC
Don’t use laptop in bedroom .. my DAD accidentally broke the LID
Avoid liquid containers like glass of water ...tea etc
keep the keypad upside down to remove the dust particles use mild vacuum cleaner.
This is a Good laptop except those Fking problems I faced.
Best of luck guys I am searching for XP CD as this Piece of trash is again crashed since 2 weeks.
