A high end laptop at affordable cost

My latest purchase is Acer Aspire TimeLineX 5830TG. I’m a product designer and I use surface modeling software to get my work done. In a laptop my primary requirement is a powerful processor and graphics card.

After doing online research I had finalized on two laptops, one is Lenovo Z750 and the other one is Acer Aspire TimeLineX 5830TG. Initially I was convinced with Lenovo Z750 because there were lots of ads about this product and also it was affordable. First I went to chroma and inquired the price, they said it was around 40K and the salesman over there was very friendly and then he suggested me to look at Acer Aspire TimeLineX 5830TG. The first time I saw it I fell in love with it, it has got aluminium brushed chassis(of course copied from apple), ergonomic keyboard, dolby speakers, 8 hours of battery backup, i5 processor and also the latest 1GB nVidia Optimus switchable graphics card.

The price for this laptop was Rs.40, 000 at Chroma and then I thought maybe if I could buy this from an exclusive Acer dealer, then I might get at a lower price. I visited the Acer Mall located at the Manipal Center, it was shocking to hear that they are selling it for Rs.45, 000. That was five thousand more than the Chroma. The people at Acer mall, manipal center are looting its customers, it is not just this laptop, each model they sell is priced highly when compared to the showrooms like Chroma.

One of the reasons I didn’t go for lenovo is because of its poor customer service. When I was at Chroma, I just typed "Lenovo Service in India" on google and there were hundreds of complaints about their service. However, the same was not with Acer.

Honestly, I wanted to buy a Dell Laptop because I’ve heard good reviews about their service, but the configuration that I got from the acer would cost an additional cost of 15K in a Dell laptop.

It’s been few days that I’m using the Acer Aspire TimelineX and I feel it’s a robust laptop with all the high end features. I forgot to mention one more feature, it’s got a USB 3.0 hub, and in case you are charging any devices through your computer with the help of USB 3.0 you can charge your iPod, mobile phones, etc without switching on your laptop.

Usually they say Acer laptops heats up very soon, but I don’t feel it with this.
