Bought this scanner about four months ago. The U in the model number indicates that it is an USB model. Set was a breeze. Put the driver CD into your CD Drive and the driver installation programs autorun and installs the MIRASCAN driver. Restart the PC and plug in your scanner and its ready to work. The scanner ships with 2 CD full of useful software to make your scanner immediately productive.
the MRP is Rs 4300/- but the actual street price is about Rs 3800/-. Pretty good buy at this price for Home and SOHO use.
1) The copier software which lets you scan to printer without an intermediate step. You can specify the number of copies and your printer will churn out the required number copies with a single scan.
2) FineReader OCR - the optical character recognition software. This is the best Optical character recognition software I have used so far. Produces amazingly accurate scans directly to WORD and Excell. It is able to maintain the formatting too - like two column layouts, tables, pictures within the text, graphs within text etc.
3) The Ulead PhotoExpress 3.0 which is basically a photeditor and a picture album composer. Has various templates for framing your pictures.
