My father bought this Airtel 4G SIM because his Reliance SIM has poor network coverage around the house. So after getting it activated, he said to me that it has 1 GB data free. When I checked it, it had 1049 MBs of data remaining. Also 4G was written on the SIM so I thought lets try it out - the new 4G. I never used 4G before.
I put the airtel SIM in my Huawei 3G Dongle & inserted into the laptop. After it was inserted, the dongle started to blink with Blue color LED. So it was 3G signal I was sure. Since my dongle is not 4G, it was 3G which I can use. So when my dongle’s window opened it showed 3G with full network signal. I clicked the connect button & my browser opened. But instantly I saw my dongle’s LED become blue to green. Green LED means the network is 2G. As I clicked on the dongle window - it was showing 2G with full signal. Hence the browsing speed turned slow. I should not talk about download speed here. Shame.
I removed my dongle several times & reconnected to laptop but there was no result. It was turning to 2G whenever I connect it to internet. After several failures, I thought lets try it out with my smartphone - I inserted it to my android smartphone & checked it. The result was worse. In my laptop, I could at least open my google homepage. But in my smartphone, the browser was completely unable to open any webpage.
This is hard proof of how Airtel 4G is a big joke on people and also on the 4G network itself. Airtel is a shame for all the Telecommunication companies. Be warned people, never ever buy Airtel SIM cards for data usage.
