I already have wi-fi at home but as a back up I needed something with good speed. The 4G dongle does not have wi-fi, so I opted for a hotspot device. Neat looking device, kind of cute too. Has 6 hours of battery backup. I cant remember the maximum number of devices that can be connected, but I have connected 4 devices on my last weekend trip. Range is pretty decent and speed wise quite impressive. I have used tata photon previously, compared to that speed is really fast.
In the beginning I paid Rs. 2600 for the device and installation. One morning I entered my details on their website, their team contacted me and by evening the executive was at home to collect a passport size photograph and id proof. Real hassle-free process and the next day the verification guy came over for address verification. I was told to contact their customer support team and give them the number, they will get it activated. That is when the whole happy experience took an ugly turn. I called them, the first guy I spoke too was polite and asked me to call after 4 hours as the details were not showing up. I did the same. The next time when I called a lady picked up and she was so rude.
At first I tried to keep my calm, she said I need to check the status by sending an SMS from an Airtel number. I told her I didnt have one. Her reply was so rude, she yelled and said "then borrow from someone". That is when I lost my cool and demanded to speak to her supervisor. No response from her, she just put me on hold for good two minutes. I was running out of patience but I just wanted to get over with it. The supervisor spoke like a professional.
Then it was time for second blow! I had initially opted for Rs. 650 plan and the back-end team did some goof-up and made it Rs. 999. And the only way to get it changed would be to go the Airtel store.
Nowadays everything is online so maybe they need to give more power to the customers, instead of us relying on the customer care.
I am giving it three stars because that problem with customer care was just once. On daily basis. the internet speed I get is amazing. And hope they have some email support system up and running in some time, any day I prefer communicating through emails than over phones.
