I recently booked a Airtel 4G LTE connection in Bangalore. I was approached by "agents" Chetan - 9663624337 and Prakash - 9035563111 who claimed themselves to be from Airtel and were pestering me to take the connection at the earliest. When they visited us they asked for a advance of Rs. 4000/- saying 1500 was towards the dongle and 2500 was towards 2 months advance rental charges.
Also he declined cheque & insisted on cash and in fact even accompanied me to the ATM to draw the money. They just gave Airtel receipt for Rs.1500 and said the rest would be sent by courier from Airtel once the activation was done. Believing his words we let him go.
After that is when all the problems started. Firstly though we were told the activation would happen in 2 days it didn’t happen even after 2 weeks! On escalating the issue with the customer care we realized that these agents were rogues who gave away the Airtel 4G dongles to customers but never deposited the documents or the cash to the Airtel back office.
When we called these agents they used to avoid saying they are driving or busy etc. To the extent they blocked our numbers and we had call from different landline. Finally when we caught up with him over phone. Prakash agreed to get the connection activated but still did not deposit the advance monthly rental of Rs. 2500!
Now we are forced to approach police to book a cheating case against them. Hope Airtel takes notice of these rogue agents and prevents them from cheating the public any further.
