LTE 4G works, but indoor signals are weak

This is Ajinkya from Pune Sinhgad road Anandnagar near sun city township. Pune 411051. Here are my comments about 4 G LTE in our area (area and distance from tower is really important while reviewing the speed).

Price for LTE USB dongle

Rs 2500 - little high, I feel after competition with other players (once they launch their 4G) in the market, Airtel might bring it down.

LTE speed promised by Airtel:

Upto 40 mbps

I observed following  things during one month of my 4 G connection with my laptop near to my home terrace with less obstacles. Download Speed:

  1. In the morning time 6 AM -10 AM weekdays - max speed  touched 21 Mbps Tested with speedtest.net

  2. After 10.00 AM - 9 PM - max speed touched - 8 Mbps

  3. with these speed I was able to watch 1080 HD you tube videos without any delay or downgrade of video quality.

  4. Reliability of connection is good. Not much downtime.

  5. Bad things: LTE Signals are very weak or disappear indoor. I observed that if I move the laptop to bedroom, the LTE signal vanishes and dongle switches to UMTS , HSPA or HSPA+ with average download speed of 1 Mbps which is not bad. But with the LTE, promised speed is upto 40 mbps and I expect Airtel must increase the LTE signal strength. Reliance netconnect + signal strength (not the download speed ) is strong compared to airtel LTE.

Overall it’s good experience to watch HD videos We will have to wait and see once number of 4 G users count increase, what happens to the speed. I will observe closely the speed for next  3-4 months and then we can conclude whether 4G is really worth
