One fine morning I heard a knock on door and when I opened it, I found a genially smiling airtel rep on my door. He asked about my current internet connection and then he presented me with some very good plans which offered me unlimited night usage at DOUBLE the general speed of the plan and he offered me a plan which would have given me 256Kbps speed in daytime and 512 Kbps in night with unlimited usage in night (using a special night top-up@ Rs99 ) while daytime usage was capped at 444MB. Also I got a landline with 444 minutes free to local airtel while all the other calls https://m.mouthshut.com/Re rel="nofollow" target="_blank" >@Re 1/min including STD.
This plan costed me 550 per month as compared to my existing 64KBps unlimited connection @ Rs 400 before so I thought it was a better deal and so I opted for it and also because they were installing it for free without any registration amount..Now I saw an example of very prompt service and the very next day the guys came and installed it and activated it just the next day. I was very happy and I disconnected my old connection and now my misery began.When the connection started I realised that the speed they claimed was in "kbps" i.e Kilo bits per second while my connection was in "KBps" i.e Kilo bytes per second and 1 byte = 8 Bytes so effectively my connection is 32KBps.
But even then I consoled myself that atleast in night when most of my work happens it would be 512kbps i.e 64KBps and then came in my next shock. I was falsely promised that I would get 512Kbps in night as the night top up I use disables this feature and so I was a total looser in this deal.Now I am left on my own, planning to get my connection removed and revert back to my old connection which in airtel’s term is a 512kbps unltd connection at just 400 bucks a month.
Though its not consistent in day but very much gives me 63-67KBps in night when I need it the most.By the way I must say, they offer very good service and very much consistent speed to what they claim but I must say they should not fool the customers into taking a new connection by bluffing.Hope they do not dupe customers which puts a question mark on their reputation other than which they offer an excellent service.
