I requested for a new Airtel postpaid connection via your call center(09845012345) on Monday, June 23rd, 2008. Based on which, a certain Mr. Eshwar(09900397629) called me and fixed an appointment for the evening. That evening he visited my house and provided me with an application form, which I duly filled and returned to him, along with an address proof, and identity proof. He provided me with a SIM Card(89914500040112643314), and charged me for Rs. 250/- for providing a “primary number”(09980877799). I asked for a receipt and an acknowledgement for the form, but he refused to provide any stating, “it will be couriered to you by Airtel”. The next day he called up and asked for another Address proof document, which he collected from my house in the evening and promised me to activate the connection within 24 hours.
The connection was not activated the next day, or the next day, and till today I am unable to use the sim card. Mr. Eshwar has now stopped taking my calls, or responding to any queries and there is no way to trace him. I called him up from another number, to which he responded, telling me “some problem” with the number, and will be activated shortly. After which I have not heard from him ever since. And I doubt if he will ever respond to this. This seems like a con job that Airtel is running on behalf of its Dealers. Nice and easy way to pocket customer’s money without providing them any proof. I cannot believe Airtel has stooped to such low standards.
After reading this, I am sure you will know what corrections you need to make in your departments, and the least you can do is take some action against the people responsible. I am not interested in having an Airtel connection anymore.
