Last summer I did a quick intra-europe flight on Alitalia from Amsterdam to Milan. (AMS-MXP)
Chekin at Amsterdam great. The counter was actually empty since we checked in 5 hours in advance (we came in on a flight from New York that arrives I early in the morning). The plane came in late, we had arrived at the boarding gate and waited 45mins for the plane to come in. Boarding a mess, people just boarded when they wanted to. It was a stampede to enter the airplane. The old MD80 was probably older than my 95 year old great grandmother, and was probably true after hearing the engine sputter and the ceiling pannels practically falling apart.
Seating was cramped, and when the person in front of me reclined they were in my lap, and it was to such an extent I embarrasingly had to ask the person in front of me to pu his chair back up. The plane was filthy, the FAs didnt bother to clean it since the minute all passengers from the arriving flight deplaned we were shoved onto the flight five minutes later. The flight attendants themselves were rude, and dissapeared after distributing snacks. I was thrown a lumpy, sogy, and stale salmon sandwich.
After eating a bite I eagerly re-wrapped it and didnt touch it for the rest of the flight. We landed on schedule, and thanked god the old plane made it back onto the ground. I hear Alitalia is pulling out of India for good, discontinuing their Mumbai and Delhi services this March. All I can say is, thank you Alitalia, for saving India from your disgusting service.
A full breakdown of alitalia:
-old and dirty planes
-rude flight attendants
-disgusting food
-No entertainment (just a 2hr. flight so not that bad)
-delays
