Bad management in Pune

I had enrolled my 8 year old child in this program around 6 months back. The idea was to develop her english speaking and elocution skills as she was already a good speaker.

This is once a week, 1 hour program, with each term of 18-20 weeks.

Before enrolling, when we went to meet the manager of Pune area, following was the information given

  1. Each term(6 months) is independent of other, and parents can start seeing difference in 6 months

  2. The number of students in batch is limited so as to have one-to-one improvement plans

  3. Once the batch starts, no additional admissions are done in the batch

  4. The program is not about drama - it is elocution improvement through dramatization

  5. Every session is independent of each other. Hence, even if child misses 1 session, it does not impact in any way.

The actual result has been quite dissapointing. In fact most of the points were in complete contrast.

  1. In each session, the teacher picks up a poem/story and children have to enact it.

  2. However, the number of students swelled to approx 20 - which meant that each student effectively had 3 minutes participation as best case, if all were involved.

  3. On raising the issue at 3 months, that our children were trying to participate but were not able as generally the session ran out of time.

  4. The reply was that we shd not expect changes so soon and also the sessions are professionally managed, and progress can be determined only after completion of 1 year. It was clear that the mgmt was not keen to hear anything on their process - or take any constructive feedback.

  5. Even at end of 6 months, there has been no change. When we complained the only thing the mgmt said is that we shd enroll for another 6 months and then see the progress. His view was that we were being too impatient.

  6. Apart from that, there were continuous issue of new admissions being taken after arnd 7 weeks were over! In a session of 18 weeks, how does it make sense to have addition in batch post 7 sessions?

  7. Also - most sessions had work given in previous session which was to be presented in next - hence, person missing out 1 session - effectively misses 2, as he does not have any idea of next session.

In any case, it looks extremely difficult if you need to improve language skills of 20 kids in 1 hour. THere is no attention given to kids who do not speak. One of my friend’s daugher - being a bit introvert - hardly spoke in entire 6 months - which was what was supposed to be encouraged.

My recommendation - Avoid it!
