AMBARSARIYA (Punjabi): Romantic Comedy Thriller

AMBARSARIYA(Punjabi): Romantic Comedy Thriller

This week’s fourth awesome movie is Punjabi romantic comedy AMBARSARIYA. If your are looking for a wholesome fare, then this’ll leave you spellbound.

Jatt Ambarsariya(Diljit Dosanjh, 32) is a RAW agent. His boss Geet Sandhu(Gul Panag, 37) assigns him a mission to save Punjab’s honest Home Minister Shavinder Mahal from the drug mafia, who’re out to eliminate him on April 13. For this, Ambarsariya lands up in Amritsar as an insurance agent, whose boss is Jasleen Kaur(Navneet Kaur Dhillon, 23). He rents a house, whose landlord is Kirat(Monica Gill). From this scenario, you must’ve guessed that it is a Ladies’ Special and it truly is. To add to the female cast’re Seema Kaushal and Urvashi Rautela in supporting roles. And apna Diljit is truly a ladies’ man thoroughly enjoying all the female attention. He basks in it and it can be seen in his dialogue delivery.

Ambarsariya has three suspects - Lauren Gottleib(Canada returned photographer), Gurpreet Ghuggi(44, doctor), and Rana Ranbir(Bhangra teacher). How he goes about uncovering the plot and pinpointing the suspect, forms the rest of the story. He meets a kid Jaanu and forms a healthy relationship with him. The climax has Jaanu eliminating the terrorist.

Everything is fine with this fun-filled comedy. But the climax doling out nationalism message and terrorism does not go down well. Gul Panag’s character is also not etched out well. But hero Diljit carried the movie solely on his shoulders with his tongue-in-cheek dialogues.

The real hero of the movie is the script writer Dheeraj Rattan. What he has written is aptly translated on the screen by Diljit. Director Mandeep Kumar brings experience to the movie. He does justice to each character and only adds to the movie. Cinematographer Anshul Chobey has done an awesome job especially aerial shots of Golden Temple in Amritsar. Jatinder Shah has provided good music to the two hummable songs - "Pagg wala Munda" and "Ju Think". Everyone’s efforts have made the movie a wholesome fare.

The movie is doing very well at the box office. It won’t be long before a Hindi movie or other remakes are made. Before all the future clutter, watch the original and have a hearty laugh. When you’ll watch the movie, you’ll know why it is a must watch. Go for it.
