Amelie is a French movie filled with love, curiosity and the ever quirky Amelie Poulain. One can see a certain similarity between Amelie and Jane Austens Emma. Amelie endeavors throughout the film to change the lives of those around her.
The film starts off with Amelie as a child being brought into the world by two people who couldnt be more different. Tragically Amelies mother is killed and Amelie is left to be raised by her over protective father. When Amelie comes of age you moves out to live in Paris where she begins work as a waitress.
One day at home on the eve of Lady Dianas death Amelie finds a small bo hidden by one of the apartments previous tenants. This begins Amelies journey to change the lives of those around her for the better. She befriends a lonely neighbour, plays pranks on another neighbour who is cruel to his employees and assists one of her colleagues in falling in love.
Then Amelie finds a photo album filled with peoples thrown out passport photos and falls in love with the man who it belongs to. Amelie is a wonderful character who is full of life and enjoys the little pleasures that life brings to her.
The film is a fun and highly enjoyable movie with beautiful, quirky characters who bring the story to life.
