This book is one of my all time favorite reads. A captivating story, told with realism and frankness that makes the reader know that the story is real, and draws them in to the feelings and tribulations of the McCourt family. When the book ends, it leaves the reader wondering what happened next in the McCourts struggle for everyday existence. Luckily, McCourt wrote a sequel and his brother Malachy also wrote two novels, so the reader can find out what happens to this poor family from the slums of Limerick. An amazing, moving and inspiring book, showing that from any background a person can make something worthwhile of their life.
