Again a National Award

Those who watch movies, those who watch rarely, those who watch just funky movies and those who watch meaningful movies.....this movie will appeal to all class and will make you feel total return of money as well as thought provoking. Apaharan is a classic movie case and should not be missed.

It has been made by a thinking director whom we may now call the best director or among the top 3 once you go through Gangajal and then Apaharan. He alarams you about a dangerous condition...not any space alien, or worl war, or nucler war, but the very on verge situation of growth of corrupt politics into very sensitive parts of lives, where the best brains and best ages run into and ruin the future of their own as well as the country.

The sorry tale of negligence and ability to address the biggest problem which country is slowly creeping into....loss of youth force, is alarming and Apaharan has done full justice in keeping it before the audience as well as penetrating it into audience head and heart, without compromising over the content as well as viewer’s interest.

It’s simply remarkable that the director addresses such a complex situation of sociology, politics, youth psychology and governance, with a question mark over the sleeping government and incumbent planning commission to look upon the major India which lies beyond the metro population.

India can never shine if only it’s major towns and cities shine and it’s heartlands are neglected into non-oppurtunity, backwardness and quality of life. India is not Delhi, India is millions of those neglected villages and small towns and it’s youths are just the guys staying and facing the challenges before their life. How does one expect honesty when one lot of population is given less respect and no privileges including a fare and minimal democracy where government is itself a criminal.

Storyline: Every department of this film deserves full marks and storyline is first. It’s very gripping and without any pothole. The movie is about 3 hours long and with just a single song, but it’s high intensity and quality of the movie that you never get even a single mood to go to toilet or get a pepsi.

Ajay Devgun plays the role of Ajay Shastri, the protagonist from well to do middle class family whose father is a respected journalist. Any politician is eager to please his father but his father never compromises with his philosophy and has strong belief in his thinking. The level goes beyond when Ajay Shastri, got the slection list cancelled due to his father’s petition in the high court. Ajay Shastri was a selected candidate for the state service commission, but his name was removed due to caste politics. Situations are built in such a manner that Ajay Shastri is forced to kidnap and enters the mainstream of crime and gradually into the power play of politics.

The story is magnificent one with equally magnificent performance and direction.

The whole unit should be given national award.

This is the first time openly it has been shown that the cabinet minister’s and the government itself participate in the crime.

It is true story which is openly practiced on the face of democracy.

Performance: AD is again excellent after Gangajal. In last movie with Jha he was law protector this time he is law breaker. He is able to potray the kind of youth he was needed to deliver. Nana Patekar was sublime and just like a sharp bullet. After logn time you will find the old Nana Patekar back.

Mukesh Tiwari was excellent with the role of city SP. He touched the chord and any policeman who watches him would be inspired. Like Gangajaal, yashpal Sharma was very effective. In overall every artist played to the hilt. Mohan Agase as AD’s dad is superb and touching.

Best sequences: This movie has some really remarkable sequences. I list some of them here:

1) When Ajay Devgun is openly blackmailed with his father by the home minister to stop the case against the selection procedure of the candidates. Ajay devgun was himself involved in bribing like many others, but was unable to say this to his father while his father was rigid to disclose this. He was in great dilemma.

2) AD’s bid to get money back from the staff slection member and his first foray into kidnapping by kidnapping the sales tax officer.

3) The jail sequence where he is beaten by Gaya singh and the sequence where he traps and manipulates the SSP to help in avenge gaya singh as well as killing of Gaya singh.

4) AD’s union with Tarbaiz Alam( Nana Patekar) and doctor’s kidnapping sequence.

5) The frame where Nana Patekar manhandles the city SP( Mukesh Tiwari) while DGP takes side of Tarbeiz Khan, while he was carrying the kidnap inside the car’s dicky. This sceen will touch even a corrupt police officer.

6) AD’s first argument with Nana Patekar regardign Suleman, in a function.

7) Whole sequences narrating the split of suleman and ajay shastri.

8) When AD is arrested, Tarbeiz is made as home minister and it’s sure that he will be killed the city SP sends him to his home till morning 5:30 to meet his father. The father son shot was very touching and excellent.

9) The last sceen was brilliant.

Direction was of first rate and other movie makers should learn from Prakash Jha..he is simply the best.

Editing is very crisp and movie is very fast that you don’t realize that it was a long movie.

There is a single song. Dialogues are best. Camera is also very good.

In overall the movie is at first rate at every front.

I suggest you all to watch this movie which will hit you like a bullet.

You will never be bored as the whole movie has very fast pace and everytime you get something. Above all every aspect including entertainment is kept alive with a strong social message which will force you to think about ajay shastri even many days later.

After a long time I watched such a superb movie and wish it to be seen by you all. you wil surely thank me for this total money return movie, believe me.

Apaharan deserves president award so Nana Patekar does too.
