This is my review about the Apple iPhone (2G) which I have been using for the past more than a Year. Its truly an amazing innovation in the world of touch operated phones.
The phones features a very big screen which is 320x480 pixels and completely touch operated (finger & no stylus). The amazing thing about the touch operation is the usage of gestures which can be used to flip thru the photos, or pinch-in or pinch-out to zoom the photos or any webpage.
The phone also features a full-fledged web browser, unlike the most common xHTML / WAP browser which is available in many of the phones in the market.
iPhones uses Mac OSX which is much more stable than the other mobile operating systems like Symbian / Windows mobile. The major problem with symbian OS is, it gets slower the more and more you load data into your phone. This was the main problem with the failure of very popular Nokia 3230 which was a initial super success and later went on to be a big flop due to the frequent crash. I even owned one of it and later got a new replacement from Nokia when it crashed within the warranty period. Windows mobile on the other hand is as buggy as any Microsoft operating systems that are available for PCs. Even a ringtone will get scrambled when you get a call. The Sony Ericcson Xpedia (X1) did not go on to great heights just because of the Windows Mobile factor. The only other competitive mobile phone OS in the present market could be the Google Android.
iPhone also features a GPU (Graphical Processing Unit) which enables game creators to provide much more sophisticated graphics compared to other mobile games.

There are loads and loads of applications (both free and paid) of wide range through the app store and through cydia & installer. Many of the basic featrues which were missing in the iPhone are imparted by these utilities and other applications. For example, SMS forward and individual delete facility was not avilable in the native SMS app that comes with the iPhone. However there are wonderful third party SMS applications which allows you to do all this and more over it gives you landscape mode for better typing. Call filtering is also available thru 3rd party apps like iBlackList. So there isnt much that the iPhone does not carry with all these apps available at your disposal.
But the major concern for anybody will be the touch screen which is a little inconvienient especially for frequent SMSers as its a little inconvenient to type single handed. You need to use both your hands to hold and type fast. The battery backup is the next major concern, but obviously having such a big screen the battery usage will be high and you might need to carry a charger where ever you go.
Hope this review helped !!!
