I sincerely hope that not a lot of people need to make use of this review, but if you or a near one is in need for a hospital handling cardiac problems, Asian Heart Institute in Mumbai should be the place for you.
Last year my dad had to undergo a by pass surgery and after serious consideration of several options we decided on Asian Heart. The best part is that we did not regret it one bit. The hospital is a state of art and though I am not a medical person and cant give a first hand account of the medical equipment they use I can definitely comment on the other facilities.
The first thing that struck me was the discipline they follow at the hospital regarding visitors. In India whenever someone falls ill the whole community make sit a point to visit the patient, not realizing that he needs rest. This crap is totally under control at Asian Heart. Each patient gets one card for a relative who can stay with them and you CANNOT enter the elevator that is the only way to go to the rooms without this card. Visiting hours are restricted to 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in eth evening and even then only 2 cards per patient are issued. This is a great way to keep all visitors away. I loved it.
The second thing was the staff there. Everyone was very courteous and helpful. It was as if they were trained to realize that the relatives were undergoing severe mental trauma and it was their duty to help them. Even the guards who operated the elevators would me how my dad was doing and that seemed like a very sweet gesture. The hospital administration takes its rules seriously coz one guard told me that if there was a surprise check and there were more visitors than allowed the guard on duty would be fined.
The room provided was very neat and clean and everything that the patient needs is there. The hospital staff makes it a point to maintain as much silence as possible and you can find almost pin drop silence in the wards except for the cells of inconsiderate people ringing at loud volumes.
There is a canteen which can be used by the relatives and though it is slightly expensive the staff there is also very friendly and helpful.
The expense on the entire treatment was slightly on the higher side (please note I say slightly) but with the kind of service we got I did not regret paying it at all.
On the whole Asian Heart Institute made an horrible experience bearable and the best thing about the place was that looking at the efficiency around me I felt at all times (I was there with my dad for 10 days) that I was in safe capable hands. This according to me is the most secure feeling the relatives of a patient need, and Asian Heart makes it a point to make you feel that.
The hospital is located at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai. If anyone needs more information you can check out their website: https://ahirc.com/
