Brunettes Beware!

I was skeptical to begin with when my hair stylist sold me this shampoo. ’’Are you sure I should use this? It says it is for blondes and lighter shades on the bottle.’’, I said wearily to the woman I had just forked over $140 to have my hair cut, dyed, and styled. She assured me that I needed this shampoo because it would keep my hair from looking brassy. Quite the opposite. My hair is now red, brassy, coppery or whatever you want to call it. This shampoo dried out my hair and stripped it of its color. Perhaps this is a great shampoo for blondes but as a brunette, this shampoo was horrible on my hair! The few blonde highlights that I did have were quickly stripped away and are now red. This has never happened in the past with any other Aveda shampoo I’ve tried.

I will say that this shampoo smelled great and created a great lather. However, I have fine hair so it made my hair limp and difficult to style. My hair looked dull and lifeless and had no shine to it whatsoever.

In defense of this shampoo, I will reiterate that it does clearly say on the bottle that it is intended for highlights, blondes, and lighter shades.   Also, I have tried other Aveda products in the past and been satisfied with them.
