A True Star...Pulsar 180 Upgrade!!!

For past one month I was waiting eagerly for new  pulsar 180 upgrade which I got on 22 Sep 2006.In black  its a beast on Indian road.I think its the most beautiful bike in India.Till now I have gone 150 kms on it and believe me its a traffic stopper.

With sleek backside and aggressive new headlamp, digital speedo and fuel gauge its simply won my heart and hardly given me chance for second thought.I really cant think of  anything I dislike in it.

The bike is very smooth and gear shift is  smooth too.Bike sitting position is same as previous 180

and as comfortable as the earlier model. Most attractive part  is the rear side of the bike.it really make the bike look  extreme sporty like a foreign bike. The digital speedo is really cool too as accurate readings can fetched. There are two trip meters to give you correct distance covered between two points. The fuel gauge too is digital. The indicators such as high beam, turn, neutral and side stand are made of LEDs and looks awesome.A malfunction indicator is given inside the tachometer that indicates various malfunctions such as low fuel, low voltage, RPM exceeding 8500 rpm etc, thus making the bike intelligent too.The switches are contact less and glows when pilot or headlamp is switched on, like in car.The turn indicators  are incorporated with  auto cancellation facilities that switches off automatically when the handle bar is made straight after a turn making you feel like you are driving a car.Indicators also switches off after 2 minutes thus eliminating the chances of unattended glowing turn lights. The speedo console looks magnificent during night as it glows to bright orange. For safety of the engine and starter, the bike’s engine ceases for 15 secs  if the starter is used more than 3 times thus elongating engine’s  life.till now I haven’t checked the mileage, may be I can give you more details in my future reviews.

All above features apart from normal features makes the bike a best deal. All that in Rs 64609/- on road Pune a mere Rs 750 extra than previous 180 model. Then what are you waiting for.GOT GET IT!

  1. Very less maintainance required.

Cons: 1.Turn indicator cancellation functioinality doesn’t work.

  1. Poor Water resistance provided  for speedo console, water easily sips in.

3. Shocks became hard.

  1. Rear  LED tail lamp stops working after few months.

Update: 04/11/2014

8 years of ownership:

Still using my pulsar for daily commute and engine is butter smooth as always. Few electrical glitches has cropped up recently, seems due to wiring faults, but apart from that bike is running the way it used to run 8 years back. Around 52000 KMs run till now. Mileage I am getting is around 35 KMPL.

Have changed two batteries in the span of eight years and BCU once. Apart from that only expense I had is for regular services. Planning to keep the bike for 5 more years:)
