Bangalore....the Happening City....this is what all people say about it. And to some extent this is what attracts people to this city !
But let me tell you Bangalore is still a Baby compared to Mumbai and Pune (I am from Pune).
I know lot of people are going to think that I am crazy...but this is what I have experienced after coming here : (No hard feelings please !)
Recently I had to shift to Bangalore from Pune as my company gave me posting to Bangalore. It was a tough time but as I had heard about Bangalore being a happening city I decided to give it a shot !
Bangalore minus the Software Industry
There is a world beyond IT and the IT Professionals (I am an IT professional) and that is what Bangalore forgets !
Bangalore is the hub of Indian Software Industry..I dont deny that, but is that all what a city should boast about ? After all the Cyberage is a virtual world and we shud understand it ! We should have a more realistic approach towards Bangalore considering all the aspects of a profession other than IT !
Bangalore is Costly
I come from Pune and have been a regular visitor to Mumbai, but what I realised is that Bangalore is a very costly city. I have rented a 1BHK flat and I am paying a rent of 5, 000/- per month for it ...can u imagine ? All the basic amenities and the requirements come at a higher price compared to Pune-Mumbai. Restaurants are too costly and though you pay more...you hardly get the Quality of Service that you get in Pune-Mumbai ! The only cheap thing over here is the local Public Transport Bus Service....but one hardly uses it due to the rush that it carries with it !
Bangalorians still need to adapt the Cosmopolitan Life
With due respect to the local Bangalorian crowd, I feel that they still have to digest the essence of a cosmopolitan life.
Just by visiting the Pubs and Discos on weekends doesnt associate one to a Cosmopolitan life.
But unfortunately the definition of a cosmopolitan life over here means Discos, Pubs, Rock shows, English Movies and ............ M.G. Road, Richmond Road, Brigade Road !
The average Bangalorian is still a too much in his/her shell and needs to shed-off the orthodox way of thinking !
