BoM incompetence is your middle name

Now I know dealing with government institutions in India is not an easy task, but in all my years of interaction with various government outlets like banks, telephone services etc, never before have been as frustrated as with my dealings with Bank of Incompetence, I mean Bank of Maharashtra.


I have had a savings account with Bank of Maharashtra (Sohna road, Gurgaon) for a couple of years now and recently applied for re-issue of a debit card. Well, not exactly recently, as till date its been over 6 months since I sent the application (sent in January 2013).


After numerous calls and requests to the branch manager, who was exceptionally arrogant and uncooperative from the start, I decided to contact their head office. It was after months of repeated emails and phone calls to their office in Mumbai, I finally received the card last week. (end of June 2013)


Initially, I was quite happy that all my efforts finally paid off. But the happiness was short lived.


Its been over 10 days since I have had the card, but I have not received the PIN yet. On top of that, this card is not activated and can not be used at any outlets.


Meaning, I am left with a dud useless card, and the branch manager had the audacity to quickly debit 160 rupees from my account the moment he handed me the card. On explaining the situation to him, he simply said to contact the HO as they cant do anything about it.


I am looking at a few more months of exasperation before my card becomes functional.


It is my sincerest request to you folks to stay away from this bank, there are plenty more banks around who honestly care for the customer and offer decent service.
