I have been using sify connection for about 3yrs, was a superb experience, however what went wrong in sify people’s mind I am not sure, but all of a suddent CONNECTION COST was ever increasing( also local operators do collect extra amt apart from standard cost from sify) for the same speed, not to mention about the download limits for unlimited packages they impose on you, okay now what do you expect if you are paying extra sum? a good reliable 24x7 service without any downtimes and prompt response from techincian who would be sent in the middle of night or any time of day? ha ha ha is that a joke or what, they dont take up calls or local cable wala will talk to you in a rude way, well for what purpose they collect extra maintenance cost?(may be to sleep in their office all day and night) now this made me think seriously about sify, if all these things would happen to you by paying more money, I thought again to better switch to a low cost alternative.
Here now beam cable came into picture, before taking a connection I was very much worried by reading the reviews posted here, now after a 10 months old connection I am very much satisfied with it.
pros:
decent speed for abt Rs500/mon paid anually, I get speeds of around 140 to 150 kbps
they didnot collect any refundable deposit, connection was absoultely laid free of cost.
no gb limit, download as long as you want and as much as you want.
they fix the problems in decent amount of time, during day time technicians come in 1 to 2hrs after you report a problem, may take 1 or 2 days if its a real big prob.
cons:
they work at a slow pace when fixing issues, the far you stay from the main line, the less you get their attention.
call center doesnt work 24x7 for problems.
connection works as long as power is available in your local area, its not backed up by UPS.
If you are lucky enough get that fiber optic box installed in your home, so you can enjoy uninterrupted connection, but that would mean the fiber adaptor would consume your power at home. I would rate it 7.5 / 10 which is very much decent score.
Note: Please do not go by what I write here, use common sense, an ISP working superbly in one area may not work at all places in same way, as there is always attention paid to area where the demand is high and staying at far end of the line and start complaining that your ISP is bad is not a fair idea better I recommend switch to another ISP where your connection is in middle of the line.
Also cost is a factor paying huge amounts for the same poor service is a joke, better switch to poor service and less payment that way you can atleast prevent a h-o-l-e in your pocket.
