I have patronised three BB stores in Mumbai, at Lower Parel, Bombay Central and Milan Subway. The range of products are wide and at extremely competitive prices, although the quality of non food products is not always the best. But then it is cheap. The special offers in the supermarket section are excellent value. The Lower Parel branch has to be the worst managed. Parking is a nightmare. The aisles are narrow and cannot take more than one trolley driven shopper, giving rise to "trolley" jams very frequently.
When the store is crowded, it is a nightmare navigating through the hordes. The check out queues are always full. The Milan Subway store is badly laid out, congested and also faces the same problems. The parking is better managed though getting there is a nightmare given the density of traffic on that road. Bad location. The vegetable section needs to be better organised as strangely fruits and veggies cannot be weighed at the same counter. The Bombay Central store is much better laid out, wider aisles, faster check out and overall you get a much better non congested feeling even when the store has a lot of customers.
The approach road is much better traffic wise and location is convenient for city side dwellers. Magnet store in Mahim is much better laid out, better managed, similar prices and offers, and much quicker check out. Pity there is no branch in the city side. I wish the management of BB and other supermarkets would stop the practice of providing individual plastic bags for each vegetable item. This generates too much plastic which ends up as garbage. Even in the markets we put all the veggies in one bag or basket. The same system could be followed here which would be much more eco friendly.
