In Kolkata with nothing to do. Priya Cinema right next door and tickets readily available (!) for the just released Bluffmaster. So there I was catching the 9 pm show.
The one highlight I shall treasure was seeing the trailor of Mr. Prime Minister before the film. It had the audience laughing and prepared them well for the film to follow. Now someone should advice Devsaab that if ever a trailor could prevent people from coming to the theatres, this was it! But this is supposed to be a review of Bluffmaster!
Funny most of the time, a treat to the eyes (excellent cinematography), with one flaw.
Unfortunately since it relates to the twist in the tale, it cant be detailed. Suffice it to say that it requires a person with an IQ of less than 10 to figure out what is happening and what is going to happen! And one wonders why the main lead is all at sea through the film.
But if there is achievement in the film, it is ABHISHEK. I think Amitabh can now retire in peace. The next king has been crowned.
He is brilliant on screen, with his smouldering screen presence, funny when required...
Nana Patekar has some of the best lines and gives his usual good performance.
Riteish (did I spell that right?) is okay but could be better...
Boman Irani dissapoints... but I think it is more the fault of the director and script than his...
I am sure that the film is inspired from a Hollywood film. I have not seen Matchstick Men as mentioned in other reviews. But I did think of David Finchs The Game with the genre completely changed!
But go see it! It is funny and slickly made. And one has to see it for Abhishek. Those who stay in Mumbai will love the way the city has been photographed...
And do try to catch it in a theatre which is showing the trailer of Mr. Prime Minister.
