Pathetic is just one of the words that can be described for Bombay Store, Bangalore. I had been a loyal BS customer since it opened in the city but my latest experience with them has left a foul taste in my mouth. Bombay Store is definitely not doing good business –any dim-witted observer can see that as you step inside.I went there to buy souvenirs / Diwali gifts and to my surprise, all the floors were practically deserted.Well, if that did’nt stop me from splurging, it surely left me wondering .BS has done a lot of mismanagement as far as arrangement & display of merchandise is concerned – it appeared as if some clown at the last minute tried to put the house in order!! The clothes sectn has been shifted down & put together with candles !! Barring few jewellery & stationery, all the items displayed exorbitant price tags. All my queries as to why BS wore a deserted look was answered by the handling at the cash counter.You have to believe this – When I asked to pay by debit card( not once but FOUR TIMES I had to repeat that I wanted to use a debit card ), the moron handling cash (with the “intelligent” manager witness to all this ) shoved an ordinary, basic calculator towards me!! One would have thought that transaction systems technology has suddenly been on an upgrade ………… the moron actually ridiculed me for NOT USING A CALCULATOR TO ENTER MY PIN…unless this was a smart ploy to capture PINs of gullible customers like me. The manager tried to explain that his cashier was quite absent-minded, hence the problem!! If this was not enough, the counter people took 20 minutes to hand me the bill & that too on my insistence. It’s clearly evident that BS is not doing well – main reasons being exhorbitant pricing, inefficient counter service & indifference towards customers. My advice to shoppers is - STAY CLEAR OFF BOMBAY STORE, BANGALORE
