Let me first tell you that Branded PCs are also Assembled Ones.
What do we mean by assembling a PC? It mostly relates to hardware. It usually implies that we can have what we want. We can have a PC that we desired. So you give your recommendations and your set-up, and the assembler gives you your desired assembled PC.
It may have a Samsung Monitor, a logitech mouse, a Creative Multimedia Set, an Intel Processor, a Seagate Hard Disk or just anything you want. So, assembled PCs are your wish come true.
But when you are writing your recommendations, there might be things that contradict each other. First you may think that P-IV is bit expensive, so P-III would do. But then you give in 64 MB RAM and also a 3-D card. But 3-D cards usually require more RAM and a faster processor. P-III would do but what about the MegaHertz. It should be more than 466 MHz!
So, you see that many technical details are required before you write down the anatomy of your assembled PCs. Some details might go just over your head. What would you say if the assembler asks, Sir, do you want a LCD monitor or the hybrid ones? Or what if he asks, Mam, would you like a stabilizer or a Shock Strip? Some may be able answer them, but not all.
The branded PCs give you a configuration that is complete in every details. I bought a branded PC from HCL some 3-4 years ago. It was an Intel MMX, 32MB RAM, 2.1 GB HDD and 32X CD ROM Drive PC. It is considered obsolete today, but it was a renowned piece then. It was a big zero when it came to computer hardware. The HCL guys guided me to get a good home PC. What I got was really great. It had speed and precision. Many of my friends had a P-III assembled PCs, but my PC was able to compete with theirs in terms of speed and performance.
I had some technical knowledge myself, therefore, I got myself a perfect PC. What about people who have zero knowledge? There are many assemblers who may dupe them.
People think that assembled PCs are cheaper. But nowadays, every big vendor are selling branded PCs at cheaper rates! Havent you heard about the Zenith and Compaq PCs? They give you good value for your money. The service is also good. Unlike, the assembled computer vendors, who dont turn up when you give them a call, the branded PC vendors are always there to help you out.
These, so called, Branded PC vendors are actually big companies selling assembled PCs. When hardware from different companies are collected in one PC, the PC is said to be assembled. Isnt it? So, all PCs are assembled.
The point to be noted is that the fight is not between assembled or branded PCs. But it is a competition between large vendors and small assemblers. It is a price war waged between these two people. They both now give away cheaper PCs.
So, you dont need to hesitate when you are buying a PC. Some expert may guide you get a good configuration, but it is you who have to decide from whom you will buying the PC. Big assemblers, a.k.a Branded PC Vendors, or Small assemblers, a.k.a, Assembled PC Vendors.
Just go in for that vendor who will give you good service and quality for the price you paid. The small vendors need not come under the consumer protection act due to their unregistered organisations. But you can always drag a branded vendor to the consumer court if you are not satisfied by the service.
Also, be aware of dupers and check everything in the workshop of the vendor itself, if you are buying it from a small vendor. There are people who cheat and give you outdated stuff. Take an expert along. I am ready to escrt with you.
In summary, I would like to say that all PCs are assembled. You just have to choose the right vendor. The branded vendors are comparatively safer. Ask for service and quality, and beware of the cheaters.
Ok then. Bye for now.
Happy Reading folks!
