BRIDE AND PREJUDICE
Me and my friend sipping beers after watching Bride n Prejudice at E Square, the most happening multiplex in Pune City!
Qs: Hey Captain, that was one hekaa bad movie! It?s good you paid for the tickets.
Ans: What bad movie. It was a fantastic movie!
Qs: You call this movie good? Ash, her arms looked fat and she had plenty of folds on her waist too!
Ans: So? Is that not a natural way Punjab wimmen look? You ever have been to Amritsar man? She looked natural, gracious, beautiful. And her elder sister too. Namrata looked perfect to me.
Qs: Bull man this movie was a no go for me. Gurinder Chadda did a magnificent job with Bend it Like Beckam, and now she gives us this Punju shaadi trash!
Ans: Hey Bend It was an original idea. This Bride movie was meant to be a Bollywood tamasha. But hey man what hungamaa in the movie!! Ashwariya, she put that American Hotel magnet in his place with her strong pro Indian dialogues. And I say hats off to her father Anupam who decided to make it good in Amristsar, in our country rather go sweat it out in LA or where ever. Even I stayed back here dude. I know you are a compulsive India hater and always sucking up to the USA wallas. Man you stink!
Qs: Hey hey hey?that?s hitting below the belt! Look, Ash can?t act for nuts! . She was put there just coz she a glamour puss man! The plot and story line was skewed, songs so loud and misplaced. Editing was slick, no doubt?.and hey which Amritsar family allows their unmarried daughters to fly out to Goa with firangs?
Ans: Man this was a Bollywood masala entertainer movie! Not some faltu Shyam Benegal boring arty film! And times have changed?.for Amritsar man to allow his dotties to go to Goa is no longer any big deal. But see, how Ashwariya put a perspective of the great Hindu culture into the slick heads of richie rich American millionaires! And he agreed naaa? That was one great thing I saw in this movie man!
Qs: Granted?.but look at the shoddy humor of the desi guy from LA behaving like a nincompoop trying to impress the Amritsar family! Jeez man gimme a break.
Ans: Then why you were laffing in the movie? Huh? Why were you rocking during the song and dance routine? Why all folks in the theater were whistling out loud? Man lemme tell you I have seen enuff of these desi foreign returned NRIs over the last 3 decades?.they no different than that fool from LA. At least this guy in the movie was funny?I seen some downright desi idiots. A few years in USA and man they loose all their bearings! They become more firangs than the USA firangs themselves!
That is what Gurinder showed in the movie and it was true true true!
Qs: Come to think of it, okay. So you have an entertainer, plenty of song and dance routines, hummable songs, funny moments, glimpses of the UK desi crowds, the desi weddings in LA?.sure??.but hey, this obsession with getting daughters married to any NRI no matter what the man stands for, is a bit way too out.
Ans: You right dude. I know many smart girls here who have refused to marry these USA types just coz they are USA H1B or green card holders. But see where as the mother was not quality conscious vis a vis grooms, the father Anupam was shown to have a head on his shoulders, right? So that cancels out what you say!
Qs: Cool. Sure. Martin Henderson was impressive no doubt as the man who drops his firang girlfriend for Ash.
Ans: Oh yes. He did good. No doubt about that! This movie is not for the critics. It is a movie of the people, by the people, for the people who just wanna have a nice night out!
Qs: You got me there Captain. Bye. See you soon. But hey??.the movie was a no brainer for sure!!!!!!!!
