Movie Review Of Bridget Jones's Diary

Psst - This section will contain some inside trivia about the film.

Quotes - Good one liners from the movie.

Oops - Goofs From the movie.

Director - Sharon Maguire

Screenplay - Helen Fielding, Andrew Davies & Richard Curtis.

A modern day adaptation Of Jane Austen’s Classic, Pride & Prejudice, Bridget Jones’s Diary looks at a 30 something Spinster Bridget Jones (Renee Zellweger) who, like all 30 something spisnters, wants a man in her life. Although her mom tries to fix her up with a hotshot lawyer, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), she is in love with her Boss, Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant). On a weekend trip they end up landing at Mark Darcy’s engagement party and Bridget ends up making a fool out of herself. In between Daniel rushes back home on pretext of some work and Bridget finds out that he is actually having an affair with an office colleague. The remaining story revolves around both Daniel and Colin fighting over Bridget. Nothing that you haven’t seen, heard or read before. Renee Zellweger is just about ok in the lead role. The star cast (Most of them english) have supported well. Lacks solid punchline and suffers from weak characterisations. Disappointing stuff. Worth a miss.

Psst -

1) Helen Fielding wrote the novel, Bridget Jones’s Diary, based on Jane Austen’s Classic, Pride and Prejudice.

2) Except for Renee Zellweger, all the star cast are from England.

3) Renee Zellweger had to put on nearly 25 pounds to prepare for the role of Bridget Jones.

Quotes

1) ’’If working here means I am within 10 yards of you, I would rather wipe Saddam Hussein’s a**!’’

2) ’’Bridget Jones, wanton sex goddess, with a very bad man between her thighs.’’

3) ’’That’s not a good enough offer for me.’’

4) ’’Daniel, what you just did is actually illegal in several countries; That is one of the reasons that I’m so happy to be living in Britain today’’

5) ’’It is a truth universally acknowledged that as soon as one part of your life starts looking up, another part falls to pieces’’
