Lets Flashback, 1977. John Denver and George Burns as God star in a wonderful Charming comedy movie Oh God. Its about How God chooses one common man to be his messenger on earth, Now Lets fast forward to 2003. Director Tom Shadyac who has previosuly collabarated with Jim Carrey to give some of the most unforgettable comedies like Ace Ventura Pet Detective and Liar Liar has now given another nice comedy and an altered version of Oh God in Bruce Almighty. Bruce Nolan (Jim Carrey) Lives with his Girlfriend Grace Connelly (Jennifer Aniston). They have a live in relationship. He is a reporter for a local NY TV channel but he never gets to cover great stories. He keeps on cursing god for every bad thing in his life. One day he gets to meet god (In a very hillarious way..God Pages Him). God (Mogan Freeman in a role which may get him best supporting actor oscar nomination) asks him to switch places. Bruce Gets to be God for a few days. He starts using these powers initially for his own vested interests till he realises that he can not use them to get back Grace who has just left him due to a fight. Although very cliched story it does have its charming moments and some good scenes (Like the one in which Bruce uses his power to mess around with rival tv reporter in the news room..that is absolutely hilarious. Even The starting ’’I’ve Got The Power’’ Scene is very good). Its Jim Carrey all the way. Morgan Freeman is good as usual. Jennifer Aniston is wasted in a cliched role (And of all the people in the world..she looks like suffering from a major bad hair day). Watch it if you are a Jim Carey Fan. A typical cliched movie yet very charming.

1) The phone number that appears on the pager carried by Bruce Nolan was an actual phone number in many US cities causing owners of that phone number to be bombarded with calls after the movie was released. One of the owners even filed a lawsuit against the producers and the studio of the film.

I didnt notice any goof ups but in case you did please let me know. Although there was one thing, If the moon was brought so close to the earth, why was there severe high tides in only japan and not anywhere else ? Let me know what is the logic behind this.
