Truly Scrumptious

Thats the only way to describe these lovely little sachets - not only are they scrumptious but they come in a variety of flavours for most tastes :O))

~~ WHAT FLAVOURS CAN I TRY ~~

Cadbury’s toppers come in 4 flavours that I know of and here is a list:

Cadbury’s Crunchie – a sachet of hot chocolate and a sachet of gorgeous crunchy pieces of cinder toffee covered in chocolate! This is my absolute favourite and could drink this by the bucket load but unfortunately that would be very expensive not only for my hips but also my purse!

Cadbury’s Wispa – a sachet of hot chocolate and a sachet of flaky Wispa chocolate which melts scrumptiously on top of your chocolate drink! Oh the calories (but who cares). I like this one but sometimes find it’s just too rich for me and prefer the crunchyness of the Crunchy topping :o)

Cadbury’s Marshmallow – a sachet of hot chocolate and a sachet of ickle tiny pieces of marshmallow which melt temptingly on top of your rich chocolaty drink!! Now this is really lovely to have on a cold night in front of the television. My son likes to pinch most of the marshmallow pieces but I find the sachet holds quite a few pieces and I only like a sprinkle anyway. I also feel like I’m not being so greedy if I share, lol.

Cadbury’s Wispa Mint – Now this one I haven’t tried as I am not keen on minty chocolate but I assume it’s a sachet of hot chocolate and a sachet flaky wispa mint chocolate!

~~ SACHET CONTENTS ~~

Well every flavour contains a sachet of hot chocolate, which weighs in at 28g and the toppers all vary in weight! For instance the Marshmallow topping weighs only 7g but the Crunchie weighs in at 12g so you’d think you where missing out on something but actually all the variety’s have (in my opinion) just the right amount of topping to add to your drink!

~~ DIRECTIONS ~~

This couldn’t be simpler in fact it would probably be less tempting if they made it more difficult to make especially for all those who are on a after Christmas diet!!

All you have to do is stick the kettle on, wait very patiently for it to boil! A difficult task if you are having chocolate withdrawal! To distract your attention away from staring at the kettle (because everyone knows a watched kettle never boils or is that a pot?) get a mug or cup out of your cupboard and empty the contents of the Hot Chocolate sachet into it.

Right so the kettle has boiled eventually now all you have to do is pour hot water over your dried hot chocolate instant drink and stir briskly.

Having done that rip open the sachet containing your chosen topping (I highly recommend the Crunchy by the way) and sprinkle onto your eagerly awaiting chocolate drink!

I find with all the above toppings the only one that needs a stir after the topping is added is the Crunchy as it tends to dive straight to the bottom of the cup and form a chunk. If you stir it straight away all the pieces will float free ready for your gob to munch on, flippin gorgeous!!

~~ HOW NAUGHTY ARE THEY REALLY ~~

Well it all depends on how many treats you have in a day, week or month I suppose. I generally buy two or three sachets a week and drink them all in the same day, now that’s naughty, lol.

There’s no disguising the fact that they contain fat as we all know any sort of chocolate substance is gonna play havoc with our thighs!

On average these delicious drinks contain around 3.5g of fat, which doesn’t sound to bad per cup (well not to me anyway) but if you add it up over a 100g then it’s more like 8g so I suppose all those health conscious people out there will tell me differently.

The Crunchy topper has a whopping 167 calories and 4.5g of fat so its probably the worst out of the four for your thighs but the Marshmallow topper has only 135 calories and only 2.8g of fat so if your watching your weight then you can justify trying the Marshmallow topping by saying “ well its got 32 calories less than the Crunchy topping so it must be good for me”, lol.

~~ INGREDIENTS ~~

I only have a Crunchy topper at the moment so I’ll tell you what’s in that (it is an empty packet as I felt I had to drink it while I wrote this opinion for the sake of the opinion, of coarse)

INSTANT MILK CHOCOLATE DRINK: Sugar (of coarse), dried skimmed milk powder, cocoa(11.5%), dried whey, milk chocolate (5.5%), hydrogenated vegetable oil, dried glucose syrup, salt!, thickener (e466), flavourings, stabiliser (e339).

AND FOR THE TOPPING: milk chocolate with honeycomb centre (yummyness) Milk chocolate solids 14% min, milk, sugar, cocoa mass, cocoa butter, vegetable fat, emulsifiers (e443, e476) flavourings, glucose syrup, glazing agents(e414).

~~ THE CADBURY’S TASTE TEST ~~

I find that I love almost all things that have Cadbury in the title (with the exception of minty things- ewww)

This doesn’t disappoint in any way – the chocolate drink is gorgeous and very rich and chocolaty as you’d expect from a Cadbury’s product. The first time I purchased one of these sachets I was half expecting the hot chocolate to be slightly bitty or lumpy in other words but no! Just a damn fine smoooooth and creamy hot chocolate drink with a nice choice of toppings to tempt you with – so all those people at the Cadbury’s factory are the naughty people really for creating this scrumptious drink and I take no blame for all those who read this opinion and decide it’s all my fault that they have become addicted as I am (poor old me, awww).

~~ PRICE, AVAILABILITY and PACKAGING ~~

Well the price may vary from store to store – I know for instance that these cost 44p a sachet in my local Tesco’s but are a whopping 59p in my local Coop so there’s a 15p difference for a start which I find extortionate, especially if you’re a piggy like me and can’t just buy one!! You can also buy them in Safeway and I would suspect in all large supermarkets and in some corner shops. I think it’s probably cheapest in Tesco’s but don’t quote me on that.

As you’ll have noticed these are not cheap but I suppose every good thing has a down side. In fact the only down side for me is the price – 44p a cup isn’t exactly cheap is it!! So I think Cadbury’s should definitely make these little mugs of heaven a little cheaper or make it in jar form so you can get better value for money and be able to scoff more of coarse ;O)).

As for packaging, well you’ll spot these amongst the instant chocolate drinks in any supermarket and they come in a nice bright purple sachet with Cadbury’s Toppers splashed all over the front – each flavour has different colour on the topping’s side. For instance, the Crunchy topper comes in a nice Purple and yellow sachet but the Marshmallow comes in a lovely purple and pink sachet.

~~ Finally ~~

Yes I can actually hear you all groan and say “At last it’s the end of the op, how can anyone waffle on so much about a flippin hot chocolate drink”.

Well quite easily if you are addicted like me :o)) I’m sure I don’t have to tell you all that I highly recommend you give them a go. I would have given a 5 star rating but I feel the price is a little high so have only given 4 but it was a difficult choice to make I can assure you!
