Every year people from all over the world flock to see this monumental wonder of the world.
Yosemite National Park is that and more.
Soon , with the advent of the new Yosemite plan many roads will be closed to the traveler so I say get there now and see all the sites. Of course there will be bus travel in and out of the park , but many of the wildlife areas that were accessible to hikers and bikers will be closed off to only view from a distance.
El Capitan is over 8, 000 feet of pure granite and also a rock climbers dream.
Also you wont want to miss the valleys many natural rock formations such as the Three Brothers, Half Dome ( which you can still climb on a day hike ) and others that are unbelieveable.
camping is availbale in Yosemite Valley but for those who dont do the wilderness well there is always the famous Awahnee which has been feature in many movies.
Also the Yosemite Valley was also the set for many feature films , the most recent being MAVERICK with Mel Gibson and Graham Greene.
Dont miss out od the Indian Village and the Indian Museum while visiting there.
The Miwok Indians inhabited the valley for centuries and the museum has loads of data on the Miwok of the Valley, and even offers basketry, tools and demonstrations by Phil Johnson a Miwok Indian.
My husbands Grandmother Amy Rhoan has a basket on display in the museum so be sure to look for it when you visit !
This is truly a spectacular place that you wont want to miss!
Get there before they close it off!
