Just bought last week, still tinkering with it at the moment
For users who are looking for a coat-pocket-size camcorder but dont want to significantly compromise on performance and features, the Elura 50 strikes a good balance. Like the Elura 40MC it replaces, this 14.6-ounce unit is one of the smallest and lightest MiniDV camcorders available. Though video shot under low light looks a bit rough, Canon has again succeeded in cramming a solid consumer camcorder into a small space.
The Elura 50 is so trim and solidly constructed that youll have it with you in places youd never bring an ordinary model. You can operate the vertically oriented camcorder easily with just your right hand...and did I say its Tiny....
But small doesnt necessarily mean fragile. The metal-and-plastic case feels sturdy and tightly assembled.
digital-zoom range extends to 400X from 200X, a slow-shutter Super Night mode, and direct USB connection to more printers. The audio sounds clear and strong, though the top-mounted stereo microphone picks up the videographers voice more readily than a front-mounted mike would.
Battery life is a constant pain in the rear... I mean the thing drain out faster than a hummer on first gear....
The additions can get really pricy though.
