Its worth a watch

Wanna catch an action flick with amazing stunts and great acting? Head to the theatre now and catch the latest Bond movie - ’ The Casino Royale’. The only negative point in this movie is that it is a bit too long for an action movie and therefore fails to capitalize on the initial momentum.

The Cast :

Daniel Craig as James Bond :

He looks like a sinister, cold blooded killer who can charm women just as well as he can kill. I was a little apprehensive when I found out that an unknown actor ( I hadn’t heard of him then) was going to play the character of James Bond; but Craig does not disappoint, infact he plays the part to perfection.

Eva Green as Vesper Lynd

She looks stunning and plays her part with a great deal of finesse. Unlike the previous Bond girls I have watched, she’s had to play a rather complicated role here.

Mads Mikkelson as Le Chiffre

He’s the perfect villian. I don’t think anybody else could have played this role as well as he did.

Judy Dench as M

She’s the stereotyped boss figure. She has given a great performance as always.

The plot:

This movie is based on Ian Fleming’s first James Bond novel. James Bond is the newly promoted British secret agent 007. His mission is to fight terrorism and those funding it. The movie starts off with a riveting chase scene in Africa; I could not take my eyes off the screen for the first few minutes of the movie. Then Bond blunders by blowing up an entire embassy in order to get the guy he is chasing. This gets the goat of his boss ’M’ and he gets a sound scolding from her. This is soon followed up with Bond trying to stop a man from blowing up an air-plane. After this, the movie gets rather passive as Bond tries his hand at high-stakes gambling in order to stop Le Chiffre from winning millions of dollars at ’ Casino Royale’. Vesper Lynd is the agent who is in charge of the funds Bond uses in gambling. Though she initially treats him with disdain, she ends up falling in love with him.In the concluding part, the action resumes with Bond fighting the "baddies" in an old house which is crumbling even as the fight is in progress.

Other things you might want to know:

- Sean Connery was among those considered to direct the film.

  • The producers looked at over 200 actors before they finally chose Daniel Craig.

-Many of the other actors in the running for Bond didn’t even know they didn’t get the job until they saw the TV broadcast of Daniel Craig accepting the offer.

  • It has the longest running time for a Bond movie.

Vesper Lynd : Am I going to have a problem with you, Bond?

James Bond : No, dont worry. You’re not my type.

Vesper Lynd : Smart?

James Bond : Single.
