Psst - This section contains some inside trivia about the film

Quotes - Good One Liners from the movie

Oops - Goofs from the movie

Director – Martin Campbell

Screenplay – Ian Fleming, Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and Paul Haggis

New M16 ruthless secret agent James Bond(Daniel Craig) has just been given his first mission by leader M(Judi Dench). He has to spy on a terrorist, Mollaka(Sebastien Foucan) in Madagascar. The mission goes hay wire after a shoot out at an embassy. Bond decides to investigate the mission independently when he gets a lead to Bahamas where he finds out that Dimitrios(Simon Abkarian) is involved with Le Chiffre(Mads Mikkelsen) who is a banker with major or the world’s terrorist organizations. He finds out that Le Chiffre is going to raise money to fund the terrorist organizations in a high-stake poker game in which the person who wins can get up to $150 million. Bond is now assigned to make sure that Le Chiffre does not win anything and is aided by another secret Agent Vesper Lynd(Eva Green). Soon chemistry evolves between Lynd and Bond. The game starts and so does the dirty tricks play by Chiffre to make sure he wins the game. All this leads to a mind blowing typical James Bond Climax. Comparison between previous bond Pierce Brosnan and Criag is inevitable and Casino Royale wins hands down. Although very clichéd, this is a much better movie then all the Pierce Brosnan Bond movies. Good acting by everyone and the starting chase scene is absolutely mind blowing. Worth a watch for all Bond and Non-Bond Fans together.

Psst -

1) This is the first novel which had the character of James Bond and although Casino Royale was made in 1967, that was just a spoof of the original novel. This is the last of Ian Fleming’s novel which has been made in to a film although it was the first book ever written by him with the character of James Bond.

2) Had a worldwide release on 17th November 2006.

3) Hrithik Roshan, Hugh Jackman, Russel Crowe, Pierce Brosnan and Gerard Butler were amongst the actors considered for the lead role. Brosnan declined the role as he, like Sean Connery, was tired of being typcasted as James Bond. Aishwaya Rai, Naomi Watts, Charlize Theron, Thandie Newton, Angelina Jolie,

4) The movie was made on a budget of $102 million. Although the star cast was announced in October 2005, the filming started as late as 27th January 2006 and ended on 21st July 2006.

5) Sean Connery was considered for directing this film. Quentin Tarantino wanted to direct the film provided Pierce Brosnan acted in it.

6) The movie does not star the characters of Q and Miss Moneypenny as they were never introduced in Bond Novels till Dr No.

7) Like the previous 4 Bond ventures, this one had brand advertising. Prominent being Sony Ericsson Mobile Phones.
