Chak de India means Lift it up India. Great Movie! The other recent great movie with Sharukh was Swadesh. In both these movies SRK was less visible and the theme was the hero of the movie. Chak de . talks about: team work, and hats off to the director, cinematographer, make-up artist, and the cast, there was no one standing out in the movie but only the message - we Indians need to become one team if we want to achieve anything. In fact the movie says: achievement or not let us first become a team. The brawl against boys in the coffee shop says that if you wanna become a team it should be from your heart and it should be for everything and not just for the game. The movie also says that we should not be ashamed of being Indians.
My highest point in the movie was the match against Argentina: when the coach permits aggressive counter, and Balbir Kaur gets down to the job. .and later with rickshaw, Kaur tells her mom to keep cool! Wow that was the best part of it all.
A pat on the back for SRK who unlike other superstars did not stick out of the plot like a sore thumb but blended well with the story line and delivered the message with clarity.
There are other important messages like the one about treatment of minorities. Indians are quick to find fault with everything and everybody. Minority is just one excuse we find to point accusation at someone. If not minority then we will dig out some other silly excuse. Chak de. says lift it up and let go of all our ill-will, and become a team, and take on the world! No jokes, we can do it.
