When I bought the Chandramukhi album , as the other fans of rajni the first thing that I expected is the TITLE SONG to be atleast equal to BABA.
But the First time when I heard I got confused and annoyed why is that there is a telugu flavour in the title song?? I don’t mean the words ’’devuda devuda’’ but the background beat that it started and continued. Then came the song ’’athinthom’’which resembles illayaraja’s ’’maanguiyile poonguyile’’ at start but later changes to typical vidyasagar’s style of melody mixing with a thin layer of folk in the background. Really a nice song. Both the songs been wonderfully sung by SPB(as usual).
Then the song ’’annanoda paatu’’ which I thought rajni would have wanted vidyasagar to repeat ’’appadi podu ’’ of ghilllli fame. But this song is too racy then ’’appadi podu’’ . Particularly I think rajni wanted kay kay to do the number as it is done in ’’appadi podu’’ . Kay Kay has done the required job. Then Comes the melody ’’konja neram’’ . Why Madhu balakrishna sounds too husky in this song ?? his voice in ’’ding dong koil mani’’ in ji and ’’kandaen kandaen’’ in madurey were absolutely melodious and resembled yesteryear’s yesudoss.
Asha bhosle is too sweet but tamil has got beaten up by her pronounciation.’’Kokku para para’’ , is the song sung in group, nothing worth mentioning.The Last one’’ra ra’’ a telugu number really frustrates.Why is a telugu number required in a superstar’s album??Even though the situation might require one such song, it may well be sung in tamil itself.
Dont think that I have aversion towards telugu, but if it had been in any other star’s album I might not have raised this , but since it is in superstar’s album who once added the quote in his song ’’yen udal porul aaviyai thamizhukkum thamizharkkum kodupathu muraiyallava??’’ I got really dejected. Even though my review should be based on the strength of music but not on language , but since the superstar’s album has got this controversy I had no choice other than to raise this.Will the Telugu superstar (chiru) will accept a tamil song in his film or will his fans accept??
If chiru itself has that much hesitation, then how come rajni who is considered to have a huge mass in all the states of south india particularly tamilnadu took such a decision??? I would like to Remind all one thing RAJNI is not an Ordinary Actor but has a huge fan following in Tamilnadu and he is expected to fullfil theirs everytime.
Now leaving that aside, when we hear the songs repeatedly it sounds better day by day but still the ’’ra ra ’’ and ’’kokku para para’’ could not make any mark .
