First of all - I am not really very honored to be the first to write about channelv.com, however - its okay, I shall accept the honors (???) anyway! {{Takes a Bow}}
The Channel::
Channel[v] is your average music channel. I dont consider it any better than CMM, ETC or even Lashkara. The VJs and their double-meaning jokes are beyond my understanding of music-related channel talk. Also, talking of VJs - I really dont see the point of faking an accent (VJ Kim) - alright, you were once upon a time a Canadian, youre now an Indian dudette - hosting a friggin Indian music channel, you can chill down a little. *sigh
And then they go to an extent to make Sushma Reddy a VJ. The girl cant speak english properly people! Fine, Meghna ruled Channel[v] once upon a time, but are we supposed to tolerate her baby sis too? Yudis too busy trying to act like a stud (oh puh-leeze). The only sensible VJ is Gaurav whose jokes are actually worth smiling, if not laughing!
Somebody - stop me! I am supposed to write about the website!
The Website - First Impression::
In my face - five big bubbles asking me to choose my country. Bharat humko jaan se pyaara hai? I am redirected to vindia.com which splashes indya.com in my face. Geez, cant you make indya.com and channel v separate affairs. Why do they have to bang all the Star channels in your face?
The colors are cool enough. They grays a good choice - an advantage over the very funky colors at mtvindia.com. But grey and magenta? Umm.. can we please reconsider that? Anyway its good enough. Clean, clear-cut layout. I still feel they could remove the indya.com logo and links to other Star channels which hog the entire website experience.
The Website - Content::
Nothing special, nothing great. If I am here to see what time what show airs - I have done a smart enough thing. Or if I want to know which pinhead hosts which show - I have again outshone everyone elses brilliance. If I want to know that [v] Panga is the hindi answer to Who Dares Wins - gosh, could I have chosen a smarter place?
The content is very precise. Nothing faaltu. Only restricted to basic channel information. You can also know more about your favorite (???) VJs and download their wallpapers (yeaaaa - mom look I have the crazed woman Kim on my desktop! I wanna have an accent like hers. Ooh AAh)
That can be both a pro and a con. You may feel - thank God I am not clogged with useless links I dont want to deal with. Or Damn - I wanted to watch Christina Aguilera shed it all in Dirrty - dont they have a video?
I like the lyrics section - although they lack artists bigtime, at leas they have something! No hindi lyrics, but then again - since when do hindi songs have lyrics?
The Album Rack section is worthless - who wants to know what album has which song - youd rather enjoy the shopping experience.
The International Music section makes you ask - achha, abhi hum national music ke baare mein pad rahe the? Its basically a khichdi of the other sections.
The Website - Technical Aspects::
Loads fast - full points there. Very little advertisement. No popups - thank God! The updations are very sporadic I feel. I might be wrong there - so wont make it a statement. The website viewed perfectly fine at 800x600 resolution and Internet Explorer 5.5 - I really couldnt bother experimenting with the resos and browsers over a pesky site like this.
The Website - Final Verdict::
You adooooooore Yudi? Oh cool - this would be perhaps the only place online where you could get about 2-3 pictures of him. Cool na?
Or you know what? You didnt know whose the cute cuddly VJ on P.O.V this morning? Why dont you check channelv.com - and youd discover she was Kim!
You wanna know when does the great show Hotline air again - no no, wait! Dont open the newspaper yet - check out channelv.com.
And yea - thank me later!
