Okay. I’m broke most of the time - especially right now, as I’m not employed. Even so, I have to find the perfect Christmas gift for FOUR younger siblings, plus my Mom and Dad - this could either get expensive or call for me to be a very creative person!
I opt for creativity, because I don’t have THAT much left in my bank account!
So, I sat down a few weeks ago and said, ’’Sarah, what ONE gift would be PERFECT for the ENTIRE FAMILY?’’ That in itself is a challenge - there are seven people in this household, and we all have unique tastes. We don’t even listen to the same types of music most of the time! Some of us prefer rap, others listen to country.it’s a mess when all seven of the stereo systems are on at once!
Eventually I narrowed things down to the Entertainment category. I looked at our television set, and the VCR underneath it. A-HA! We don’t have a DVD player!
’’The kids’’(as I call my younger siblings) have all been begging for a DVD player since they first hit the mainstream American market over a year ago. They’re content with the VCR, yes, but they HAVE seen the sharper, clearer images and impressive surround-sound capabilities that DVD players offer.
So, this Christmas I’m shopping for a DVD player, as well as a few discs to go with it. The challenge with the discs, of course, will be finding ones that everyone can enjoy! Let’s see.Jackie Chan movies are good.so are action flicks with Nicholas Cage or Jean Claud Van-Damme.oh yeah, and some comedy titles such as Friday for the kids. This is going to be pretty easy, now that I think about it!
When shopping for THREE brothers like I have to do throughout the year, it’s hard to find something that will be perfect for all of them. Birthday shopping is simple, yes - you only have one of them to shop for at a time! But, often I get the urge to shop for all of them - like, when I get a raise, or right after I came home from the Army. This makes things a bit more difficult, as I can’t always buy them each something. So, I go for one or two ’’bigger’’ gifts that they’ll all enjoy.
Christmas is, of course, the biggest shopping holiday of the year here in the States. Everybody is trying to find the perfect gift for their loved ones, co-workers, et cetera. It can be a hassle, and it can be quite frustrating, but I enjoy the hell out of it - taking the time to find something that is absolutely PERFECT is a bit of a challenge, but the reward(watching them grin with child-like delight) is more than worth it.
