In August 2013, my doctor prescribed me a scan that could be done at very few diagnostic centers in Bangalore because it required good resolution machines( that were not available in most of the hospitals and diagnostic centers) . When I checked with the Doctor, he asked me to get it done at Clumax Diagnostic Center in Thippasandra, Bangalore.
When I went to the diagnostic center, I was told that the cost of scan is Rs.8500 and they gave me a list of additional tests and precautions. I asked them several times about any discounts( Corporate, Doctor / Hospital, etc.) and the staff rudely told me that no discounts are available.
When I went for scan as per appointment, they made me wait for over 2 hours for no reason( even though machine and staff were available, they were too busy attending to some Arabs and other foreigners, who were probably paying a hefty fee for their services) . Anyway, they did a scan and asked me to wait for some time to see if the images were captured properly. Once they said it is fine and asked me to collect the report next day, I left the diagnostic center.
Next day, when I went to collect reports, they told me that reports are not ready and they cannot give any particular time when they would be ready. This really irritated me. I also found out that they gave a 10% discount to another person who was enrolling for same scan at that time. When I asked them why they didnt give me the same discount, their logic was that the other persons doctor was an important client for them( so, they didnt consider patients as clients!)
Anyway, when the report came, I was surprised to find that some of the images were not clear and the same fact was mentioned in their report as well. When I checked with them, their response was very strange, telling me that - "yes sir, some images are bad, but overall it looks fine, so no issues". I told them that at the time of scan, their technician had told me to wait and then gave a clearance. I asked them why they are not doing another scan, and they flatly refused saying it is not required.
While they have some latest equipment CT and MRI scanning machines, I think patients walking into this diagnostic center must be extremely cautious about getting cheated. First of all, get a proper letter from doctor asking for discounts( as their charges are very hefty, much more than other diagnostic centers) . Secondly, if the scans are not right, demand a second scan for free.
