If you had asked me about Coca-Cola 20 years ago, I would have written a different review than I am today. Then, Coke was a refreshing drink - something to quench your thirst on a hot day. It was a household name, one that we trusted. Things go better with Coke was a jingle we all knew, and sang along with as the ads played on the tv. They showed us that happiness could be obtained from the little red and white can, and we so wanted to be happy.
When I started to have a weight problem I switched to the diet variety, little knowing that in so doing I was poisoning myself and laying myself open to all kinds of symptoms and health problems. It was only in trying to get to the bottom of what was making me ill, that I found out the damage I had done to myself over the years. The phosphoric acid and caffeine leach calcium from the body, and aspartame ( the non-nutritive sweetener used in the diet variety) turns into formaldehyde as it warms. Not even to body temperature, either, but at a level where it is still cool to the touch.
I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis at 47 - some of my discs hare crumbling and others have begun to fuse together. All my life I have eaten calcium rich foods, thinking myself safe ... as I drank them down with my Diet Coke, little realising I was stopping my body from absorbing the nutrient. When I went out dancing, I drank Diet Coke instead of alcohol, maybe 5 or 6 cans in a night. My ignorance has cost me my health.
It tastes good and refreshes you when you are thirsty but NEVER will another drop of Coke or Diet Coke pass my lips. The 11 1/2 oz can seems cheap and enjoyable, but I now have the rest of my life to pay the price and it seems an excessive price.
And if you dont believe me, type in aspartame on a search engine, and you can see all the symptoms this additive is causing.
