Cross Country Bank - Don't go near it!!

As I can see from these reviews I am not the only one whom distrust Cross Country Bank. I only wish I had read all these before accepting the card... here is my story...

I received my card with an apr of 14%, and a fee of $35. I received my first statement and sent out my payment 11 days early. Not only did I send it 11 days early, but I also sent more than the requested amount. A few weeks later I received a letter from them stating that my payment was past due and they then proceeded to charge me with a late fee.

After receiving this letter I called Cross Country Bank’s customer service line. Where I was told that they received it late, therefore, I was to pay all additional fee’s. I explained to them that it was impossible for it to be late, because I sent it 11 days early. The representative told me that it was possible that the post office could have made a mistake and not gotten it to them in time. Then she proceeded to say that no matter what caused it, it was on my account, therefore, I was going to be the one to pay for it not getting there in time. (To be honest with you, I don’t blame the post office at all, I believe Cross Country just didn’t post it in time, causing a late fee on my account). She was basically telling me that whether or not it was my mistake, I was to pay.

Well, I work at a bank so I have proof that it got there in time b/c I have access to watch my account on the computer, and it showed that they cashed the check before the date it was even do. I sent copies of this proof to them, and continued to make my actual payment each month... they continued to cash these payments.

Little did I know (b/c they were not shown in my statements) that even though I was sending them the true payment each month, they were charging me a late fee each month b/c I was paying the very first late fee. I had no knowledge they were even doing this until I received a letter from them that if I didn’t pay $186 now, I was to be turned over to a collection agency.

This caused me to call them once again telling them that it never showed on my statements that they were charging me late fee’s each month. The rep on the phone said there was nothing she could do about it, and that all I could do was pay the payment. Also, in the midst of this they took my apr from 14% (which is not bad at all) to 29.99 % for something I never did in the first place!!!

So now, even though I was 11 days early on my payments, have been a good customer, and was never late on a payment... I have to pay them $150 now or it damages my credit!!

So, ...I am basically just having to hand them over $150 that I don’t even owe to keep my already good credit from being damaged b/c of their mistake!!

I am telling you guys, steer clear from Cross Country Bank!!!!!

God Bless and good day to you!!
